Bart Lujan, an Albuquerque native, serves as an Assistant Coach at Jackson Wink MMA Academy, a role he has held for over 10 years. With expertise in MMA, Wrestling, and Strength & Conditioning, Coach Lujan has made a significant impact within Team Jackson Wink.
Wrestling Coaching Career
With an impressive coaching tenure spanning 27 years, Coach Lujan has worked at various high schools, including Moriarty High School, Albuquerque High School, and Valley High School. His specialization lies in coaching Collegian, Freestyle, and Greco Roman styles of wrestling. Additionally, he took charge of the New Mexico National All-Star Team for over 3 years, further cementing his reputation as a skilled and dedicated wrestling coach.

Coach Lujan’s contributions to the world of MMA extend beyond coaching wrestling. He has had the privilege of working with numerous notable fighters, including Diego Sanchez, Joby Sanchez, Donald Sanchez, Cody East, Andre Arlovski, Angel Cabral, Chris Barnett, and many others. His expertise and guidance have played a vital role in shaping their skills and successes inside the octagon.
Career Highlights
Reflecting on Coach Lujan’s personal wrestling career, several remarkable highlights stand out. As a competitor, he achieved remarkable feats, such as being a 4-time New Mexico State placer. His achievements include securing 2nd place in his sophomore year at 112 pounds and clinching the State Champion title in his junior year at 119 pounds for Valley High School from 1988 to 1991. In addition, he showcased his talent on a national level by finishing 8th in the nation at the High School National Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Coach Lujan’s wrestling accolades also extend beyond the high school level. He earned recognition as a 4-time High School All American and achieved 2-time All American status at Garden City Junior College in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Additional Athletic Accomplishments
Coach Lujan’s athletic prowess extends beyond wrestling. He was nominated for the New Mexico Wrestling Hall of Fame and showcased his versatility by becoming a 1986 Track State Champion in the 800 Meter Run. In the field of diving, he achieved remarkable success as part of the Lobo Aquatic Team coached by Ron Pimentel. Notably, he secured 1st place in the 1-meter category and 2nd place in the 3-meter category at the National Championship held at UNLV in 1987.
